"No it ain't," Vagrin said, squinting at the sky the same as the girl. "It's as dark as a winter night, it is. Pissin' early. You ought to get your eyes tested, you red-headed ape of a man."

"Didn't mean the sun, you fuckin' idiot," Northy said, locking his arm around Vagrin's neck, and tilting his head towards the Penelope. "I meant the girl. Brightens your mood, doesn't it, to see that first thing in the morning."

"Forbidden fruit just makes me damn hungry," Vagrin complained. "Though, I guess it does put me in a better mood… makes me forget the tiredness a bit."

"Fruit?" Penelope said, trying to keep up. "I thought fruit grew more in the autumn than in the spring…"

"Yeah," Vagrin said, "I'm fuckin' dying over here Northy. I showed her all the coins in my pouch and she just looks at me like I'm stupid. Am I speaking the wrong language here or something?"
