Led by Harland, Borne and Northy, the villagers came in, with over half of them wearing thoroughly disgruntled looks on their faces. Vol spied the village Elder's son, Blight, looking even more irritated than the rest. He was a familiar face by now to Vol, and one that always seemed to be discontent. He was glad that he was at least honest enough to show it, though, because the feeling of dislike was very much mutual.
He noticed that there were three women amongst the villagers – young women, at that – but they only caught his eye for a second. He assumed that the villagers left their important dealings to the men, but then, that was only an assumption.
"Elder," Vol said gruffly, without getting up from his table. The Elder gave him an amiable smile with that wrinkled mouth of his, doing his very best to look pleasant, though to Vol it just made him look more repulsive.
