Swift as the Wind - Part 4

The presence of the giant that was Vol as he entered into the dining hall was not something that went unnoticed. His men noticed him just as soon as the muttering Syndrans did.

Penelope looked up, smiling when she saw him. "Oh, Vol," she said. "Come, they have saved you a seat. Your meal is still warm. I think that this particular quest might be to her liking."

Vol sat where he indicated, falling heavily into the chair than he usually would.

"Are you going to give it to her?" Harland asked, far too loudly for Vol's liking. He glared at the man harsh enough that he might have split him in half there and then.

"Give her what?" Vale asked curiously.

With a brusque motion, Vol threw the ring that had been curled in his closed fist onto the table. It skidded right in front of Penelope, and almost went rolling off. As far as a gift to be given, it was certainly not the most polite way of doing so.
