Looming Threats - Part 1

He recalled the last of his scouts, and declared that he wouldn't send any more until daylight. Word of that quickly got to the men, and they had a rather tense night because of it, figuring that the enemy would almost certainly march, when they saw that no scouts were there to keep an eye on their position.

But dawn came yet again, and their alertness was wasted, only leaving them tired. They walked around yawning and irritated, finding their way back to their beds, despite the daylight. It was quickly becoming apparent that the sleeping schedules of the men had been well and truly shattered. None of them seemed to be able to get a proper sleep unless the world was filled with light.

The next patrol of scouts that Vol sent out didn't come back. Nor did the ones after that. It was midday, and the sky was once again clear of clouds, but they were practically blind without those scouts to tell what was happening as far as the enemy camp.
