The silent drive

Edward and Annabelle sat quietly in the car, each lost in their own thoughts. The excitement and nervousness of their court marriage filled the air, making it difficult for either of them to find the right words to break the silence. They stole glances at each other, their eyes conveying a mix of anticipation and uncertainty

The sound of Edward's phone ringing shattered the quiet atmosphere, startling both of them. Edward quickly composed himself and reached for his phone, keeping one hand on the steering wheel. The caller ID showed it was his father, and with a sigh, he answered the call.

"Hello, father," Edward greeted, knowing his father's authoritative tone all too well.

"I'd like you to come home with your wife for dinner," his father stated firmly, not leaving any room for argument. The call ended before Edward could respond, leaving him slightly annoyed.
