Thirty-two

Relief surged through me when Iris said that she didn’t care about James being Dawn’s mate. But the Brentwood family in general was a problem for me. They’d exposed my kind, hurt my other sister, Madeline. While I was happy that Iris didn’t care about James, he was still causing trouble for my family and I didn’t even know where he was. Or his mom, for that matter.
“You’re right,” I said, “she’s a woman that’s always on time and she said that she would come to meet you and didn’t. That doesn’t make sense.” I looked at my sister.
Dawn bristled. “What, you think I did something to her?”
I shrugged. “You haven’t exactly been honest about anything.”
