This was probably the last place that I should have been. Going to meet my ex-boyfriend’s mom. But Emily Brentwood had treated me like I was her own daughter. She was the only reason that I managed to get into Immortals University in the first place. Not meeting her seemed wrong. I met her back at my dorm, not wanting her to know that I was living with someone who definitely wasn’t her son. Or an immortal.

“Okay, explain to me why you’re meeting with this woman again?” Celestine asked.

Slipping out of the frat house hadn’t been easy. I’d gotten the third degree from Milo, Jackson, and Ephram. But had managed to convince them that it was completely innocent because I was going with Celestine. Having at least one werewolf with me seemed to make them happy.

“She’s worried about James,” I said.

“So? He’s your ex-boyfriend, whose family is trying to destroy immortals.”
