Lupe managed to magic us to the packs home. Iris’s screams filled my ears, and then she was ushered into a room to where I wasn’t allowed to see her. I paced outside the door, desperately waiting for some kind of answer about what was going on. “Brother,” said Milo, “go sit down. There’s nothing that you can do. The witches are working on trying to make sure that she’s okay.”

At that point, I was sitting next to the door on the ground. I looked up at him. “She’s, she is my mate. She’s in pain. I don’t want to leave. I did this to her, Milo. And I didn’t even think about it. I just thought that I wanted her and nothing could stop me. I shouldn’t have done that.”

Milo shook his head. “You’re mates. You loved each other. And you knew about the prophecy. No one could have predicted that this would have happened.”
