Last Day In School II

"Maya!" Naomi shouted my name, waving her hand, her lips stretched wide in a smile when our faces connected on the same line of sight.

I could see her smile dwindle though, as she began to walk toward me, like she was just realizing something. I am sure it is because of the news. Her parents must have told her.

"Hey babes, good moring." I greeted her, nudging her by the shoulder when she pouted and looked away.

"C'mon, you know it's not my fault. Let's get out of here immediately, before my siblings and father bear holes in your head with their eyes. We need to get to school on time too. Remember, you are the early bird." I pointed out, dragging her by the arm to her bike which was a few feet away from her.

She looked away from me then, laughing slightly when she saw the looks on the faces of my siblings and father. "They didn't see the change coming. Their loss." She mentioned, getting on the bike whilst handing me a helmet.

"Yeah, thanks." I muttered, wearing the helmet and getting on the bike.

I will miss this bike too. I thought, as I hung my arms around her waist. Maybe I could get mine when I get to the city of humans. I could learn how to ride it. I could learn whatever I want and be whoever I want.

As much as the movement was making me nervous and cranky, afraid and unsure, I was still excited about it. It was like a new life and a chapter had been opened to me to make necessary changes, and I was so ready to do that. I couldn't wait.

**

When I and Naomi got to the school, students were in clusters, probably talking about the king's announcement.

Eyes turned and stayed stuck on I and Naomi, especially I, as we got down from the bike and began to stroll toward the hallways. I wondered what they were whispering about.

"They think you look chic. Gmelina thinks you are very beautiful." Naomi whispered in that very low octave of hers. I furrowed my eyebrows, as my brain tried to tackle up who was Gmelina. I don't think I have heard that name before.

"How did you know what she was thinking? Can you read minds now?" I asked her, in a voice barely higher than a whisper.

"Well, not really. But she had said that to her friend. She just happened to be a bit loud, and I had heard it. The boys think the same too. See them. They are whispering to each other. The think you are hot. My brother thinks so too. That idiot. If he would have noticed this, we might have been in laws." She said, and I coughed intermittently, unable to help myself. Naomi could be quite..well.. ahead of herself.

"In-laws?? Have you forgotten the concept of mates?" I asked her and she shrugged.

"Well, don't you like the attention? They are not seeing you as the wolfless girl again, but as a hot chick that needs to be talked to." Noami mentioned and I sighed, not sure of what words to say to that.

The attention was okay, but I didn't really like it, you know, being the centre of attention. It was a bit overwhelming.

My eyes though went in the direction of Naomi's brother, Timothy, but just for a second, because in the next second, it shifted to Adam and his two brothers. As usual, they were flocked around by girls. Claire was nestled in the arms of Adam, but his eyes weren't on her, but on me, the same with his other two brothers.

Claire must have noticed that Adam's attention wasn't on her because she shifted her attention then to the point of attraction, me of course.

Immediately her fine fair face got all scrunched up and red in anger, probably letting that yesterday's incident to replay itself in her mind.

But she didn't move or do anything. She just stood there, glaring at me, her minions too. They just stood there glaring at me, unable to do anything.

Oh my god,why hadn't this happened any sooner? Why hadn't I reported this any sooner? If I had done so, I wouldn't have been bullied till yesterday. I would have gone away from here since a long time .

Well, there is always the first. Lesson number one though: Never take shit that needs to be reported.

"Let's get to class. I don't think anything would be happening here. The king's word is order. Not even his kids can disobey that. And don't you ever think that I don't see the look that Adam is giving you. I think he likes you." Naomi said as we increased our walking paces and stalked into the hallways, away from the stares outside , only to be welcomed with more inside, both from the teachers and students.

"Hey, don't give me that. He just wants to get into my pants. Well, too bad for him. I will be leaving here soon." I said, smacking my lips, still getting used to the feel of lipstick on my lips.

After I and Naomi had driven away from my house, we had made a stop at a shade, just some miles away from school, and had done some light makeup. I still felt giddy about the whole thing.

She had promised to get me a make up kit if we went shopping on weekend.

Weekend was beginning to look much more appealing to me than Adam's lips. Or was that false?

I shook my head, refusing to dwell on the hot kiss that Adam and I had shared in Naomi's kitchen last night.

Getting to class, I saw Avery and Casey arguing about something, well something unrelated to me. I was sure, because I kept hearing professor Ben in their statements. And well, there was no connection between that man and me.

"Who do we have here?" Cassey asked rhetorically, immediately she sighted me, but I ignored her and walked to my seat with Naomi who had flipped her over before sitting down on the seat.

"Well, it seems the girl has grown her wings. Beautiful though. I'm sure this is your last day in school. So good luck in the outside world. I think that's okay, right?" She queried, turning to her own minions who shrugged and wished me good luck too.

Though it was just there, and not really sincere , I still nodded at them. After all, I needed all that in the new place I will be going to.
