Chapter 5

"You may sit down in the waiting room Tori, the blood work will be sent off and we will call you when the results are in." The nurse looked at me kindly, and pointed out the door. "I am sorry, I know you are busy but will I be getting any medications? I am so nauseated." Silence, as she clicked around on her computer making some "hmms and ohhhs." Finally she replied, "The doctor didn't order any. I will let him know to put in orders and call you back up so just go wait in the waiting room for now."

I picked myself up and started to shuffle my pink fuzzy house slippers across the tiled floor. I was starting to get worse, and I couldn't call for my Dad, he was taking an important business call. I kept my eyes to the floor and tried to make it back to my chair. I heard a man trying to speak in English, and clearly also speaking Korean. A language I happened to know how to introduce myself in. I whipped my head to the noise and it was one of the said 'creepy' men I warned Rina about earlier. He was tall, with long black hair. He had a bucket hat on and a black mask but you could still see his striking gray eyes and heavily styled hair underneath. I think it was wavy. He had on all black and was trying to communicate with the front desk lady. Not effectively I might add, he seemed angry but didn't let it show too much.

A wave of dizziness hit me, I braced my knees stammering to make it back to my seat which was only about 10 feet away at this point. I smelled something delicious, maybe this is what they mean when your life is flashing before your eyes because I felt like I might die. No amount of pink unicorn pajamas, comfy slippers, and ginger ale could ward off the grim reaper. Little did I know, I wasn't feeling death. It was complete and total embarrassment.

I sat next to Tae Woo's hospital bed, his manager on the other side. They both had puppy dogs eyes and they were aimed right at me. "So will you do it?" His manager added, "You will get your proper compensation, I can't say anything for sure until the contract gets signed but the boss is thinking about 20,000,000 Won." I just stared blankly, I assumed they took that as a no, and he said "I think we can negotiate, how is 30,000,000 Won." I didn't need to pull out my phone but I thought maybe I was crazy, so I swiftly pulled up google and entered the amount.

"You are telling me to take this kid home, feed him, and take him to his appointments and you will pay me 15,000 dollars?" Tae Woo looked at me annoyed that I called him a kid, but what does he expect? Starting now, he is a precious kid. He will be treated like the angel child that he is because he is going to make me rich.

If life in Vegas has taught me one lesson, it is to never show your hand too quickly. "I guess that is fine, I would like to negotiate the price more, but I accept. Let's draw up a contract." I saw actual hearts come out of Tae Woos and his manager's eyes. "Thank you so much for taking care of my boy, I will call my boss and make sure everything goes smoothly." He bowed and scurried out as a little dust trail followed behind. Meanwhile, a sinister grin pulled up at Tae Woo's cheeks, his tears completely dried and had been replaced with sparkling diamonds. He looked so handsome, but I won't be the one to tell him that. We are in a business relationship at this point, and I need to draw the line deeper into the sand. I broke his silence, "This will be interesting I guess, I hope you recover quickly." His piercing gold eyes looked straight through me, "I'll be in your care, noona" He paused as the words came through his lips and he averted my eyes. "Can I call you that?"

I shot daggers back at him, this is going to be harder than I thought. I didn't realize he would be such a flirt? Was he always like this? He must flirt with every girl that is around him because he likes to watch them squirm. I will not squirm, I am an adult, with $15,000 on the line. I can play too, "I don't think you can call me noona, because you are older than me. While we are living together for the next few weeks, I hope you will take care of me too," I coyly looked at Tae Woo making sure he could see my lips and I ended my sentence "...oppa." I couldn't believe a flirt like him would be so easily broken, his cheeks and ears rushed to that beautiful coral color I loved so much and after my reaction to his reaction I realized this might be harder than I thought. I wasn't one to give up though, I would play the game, and win. What is a couple weeks with an incredibly attractive, sensitive, and talented man? I can do this, I bit my lip as my inner thoughts egged me on. I was pleased, I already had the first win. He didn't know how I felt. That fact brought me some much needed peace to my heart. I didn't show my hand in the slightest. That was great, I should be proud, especially for not even playing a single game of poker.

In time though, I would realize that I was wrong. I should have never placed bets. Being a Vegas local didn't give me any special poker skills. Watching Tae Woo leave Las Vegas, watching him leave me behind was when I realized it. My hand was a bust.
