Chapter 50

We have been lying about on the couch. I'm sure Tae and Kang are really jet-lagged after the long flight. I actually don't mind the rest, it has given me time to think over everything that was said.

Tae Woo loves me. He wants to take care of the babies he only found out he had a week ago. He is a good man and every bit as lovable as he was 6 months ago. The dark pit at the bottom of my stomach released. I took multiple joyous breaths of air when another sinking feeling hit me.

A gentle kick from one of my babies.

I'm about to deliver twins.

The fear of childbirth had been overshadowed by a broken heart. I am only a few weeks away from having twin babies. I can feel the pounding of my heart as a sleepy Tae nudges the side of my belly with his face and pats the top. He must've felt the kick too.

The gnawing feeling slows to a numbness. I have Tae. I have him. I will be fine. The garage door opens and then a door gently shuts.

"Tori, Rina are you home?" It's Tori's Dad.

I watch as Kang and Tae shoot up into a perfect position on the cushions. "Where are those boys?" I shoot a glare at Tori, our eyes speaking the words for us,

"Did you tell your Dad they were here?"

Her expression clearly stated, "Of course, I don't lie to my Dad."

Grant makes his way to the living room in a fashion I had never expected. His footsteps are pounding the floor and he is grumbling. Usually he is very light footed and calm. Is he putting on a show?

"Kang," He yells. Kang stands up to face Grant. "It's nice to see you Son, next time you come to my house. You call me first. You hear?" His voice is loud but the tone is just a little too sweet for someone who is actually mad.

Kang bows and responds, "Yes sir!" Grant pats his shoulder, and looks him in the eyes. "Good luck with your service. Make my daughter proud." Kang bows again and I think everything is over because I mean why would Grant care about…

"Shin Tae Woo" It sounds almost as a growl, Tae has already been standing for who knows how long. I stand up too.

"Rina you sit down, you have babies to worry about." He turns toward Tae. He looks at his phone and I see some sort of romanized letters on the screen. He then begins to speak in Korean that sounds a little too good.

"I don't care what excuses you told Rina to get back into her heart. I will be watching you. One slip up and you'll disappear. It was your job to be protecting her and you weren't here. I expect only the best from you."

Tae gets on his knees in a bow like something I've seen in an anime. I go to smile but feel the wetness seep through my shirt and onto my babies. I'm crying. Grant looks towards me and pulls me into a hug. "There will always be a place for you here, and I will always consider you my daughter. You deserve way better than someone like him, but if you love him I'll trust you for now."

I bawl into his shoulder, "Why do you speak Korean?" The words come out garbled. "I don't, I paid someone to translate that and then teach me how to say it."

He pulls me away to face him, "You did all of that for me?"

He frowns, "It's just as I would do for Tori, but she's not my problem child you are." He rubs a tear from my cheek and then turns to Tae, he shakes his hand and tells us all to sit.

"I have news everyone." He's returned to speaking in English and Kang is quietly translating.

"I bought myself a third house." I watch as mine and Tori's jaw drop. He only has one house at the moment so we are clearly confused.

He reiterates, "I bought a third house in Korea. I am striking while the iron is hot per say. I'm assuming my daughter will want to be with her boyfriend and my other daughter by her husband." He eyes Tae while Kang translates and Tae says a quick, "Yes sir."

I'm shocked. Marriage. Do I even want to get married? Do I want to be a single mom? I put the thoughts away and focus on what Grant is saying.

I also bought the house next door that will now be me and Tori's primary residence. It won't be ready for a month and that gives me the proper time to make sure that Tae is true to his word. I also want many people around to be able to watch over you so that works out better. Once you have the babies we will move next door. I can't even fathom not having the babies use the beautiful nurseries we designed." He winks at Tori.

"I've also drawn up a living trust. The Korean house and the house next door are willed to Tori, and this house is yours Rina." He smiles at me.

Like a cheesy sitcom, I get up to hug him again and so does Tori. "I love you Dad" We shout it in unison.

He nuzzles each of our heads and whispers. "The houses are in your names only. If you do get married, Rina, I'll help you legally so you can keep that house. We can put renters in it so you can have an income in case you need to leave." He speaks a little louder.

"So does anyone have any questions?"
