As King Edward rode into Avaloria, a sense of urgency filled the air. He made his way to Annabelle's room, his eyes fixed on the Fiery Ember Ruby. "Annabelle, where is the ruby?" he asked, his voice filled with anticipation.
Annabelle paused for a moment, her gaze shifting nervously. "I cannot give it to you now, Father," she replied, her voice tinged with concern. "The king's council is watching me closely."
King Edward's face twisted in frustration. "And what about Philip? I've heard rumors that he is still alive," he said, trying to control his anger.
Annabelle sighed. "I gave him the 'Vitalis Subducor.' He will eventually die, but it seems to be taking longer than usual," she admitted, her voice heavy with regret.
Just then, a guard entered the room, interrupting their conversation. "The trial is about to begin, my queen," he informed Annabelle before swiftly leaving.
"What trial?" King Edward demanded, his voice filled with alarm.
"Liam's trial," Annabelle replied quietly. "They accuse him of being a warlock, and they want him executed."
King Edward's eyes widened in disbelief. "What? Are you completely insane? You can't kill Liam just because you don't like him!" he exclaimed, unable to contain his outrage.
Annabelle's voice cracked with emotion as she pleaded, "You know, Father, you always seemed to like Liam more than your own daughter. You trained him, gave him gifts, and spent more time with him than you did with me. Why do you hate me? Why are you such a cruel beast?"
King Edward's gaze hardened, lacking any trace of sympathy. "Release Liam immediately. I am taking him and the ruby to Evergreena this afternoon. You do not deserve any of them," he declared, his words filled with cold resolve.
Annabelle sank onto her bed, her heart heavy with anger and despair at her father's lack of compassion. Tears rolled down her cheeks, an overwhelming sense of betrayal washing over her.
