The people were engulfed in grief and confusion, and chaos began to emerge. Taking advantage of the turmoil, Prince Dimitri Edwards, the younger brother, cunningly sought to claim the throne for himself.


He successfully swayed most of the king's council, alleging that Edward, his elder brother, was unworthy of kingship due to his involvement with the witch Astra Ravenwood. The council was divided, with half disagreeing and the other half agreeing to crown Edward as king. The deciding vote fell to a man named John Hawthornecrest, who requested time to ponder over the weighty decision.


This contentious deliberation threw the kingdom into further chaos, leading to widespread protests and conflicts over who should be the rightful ruler. Recognizing that Evergreena was drowning in disaster, Edward approached John Hawthornecrest and made him a compelling offer – he promised John his vote, along with convincing the rest of the king's council to support him, in exchange for the hand of John's daughter, Amalia, as his queen.


After careful consideration, John agreed to Edward's proposal, and he was crowned as the new king of Evergreena, fulfilling his promise to marry Amalia.
