Anima

(Jason's POV)

"Scarlet Glow?" Erza said as she looked at the spear, "But the glow is orange.."

I frowned, "Don't sweat the detail, woman." I said, "Stick a bit of your hair in there and it might glow scarlet."

Mystogan walked up to me, "You still haven't explained to me how you have access to magic." He said with a frown of his own, "How is it that-"

"Hey, man." I cut him off, "Does it matter at this point? I don't know, I doubt it does."

He looked taken aback, "Hm.." He said, "Maybe it doesn't...you're right.."

I walked over to the Holy Spear and picked it up, leaning it against my shoulder.

"Once I'm back home, I'll work on this one and restore it, Erza." I said, "You won't have to worry about it."

She smiled at me, "Alright."

I looked over at the gate and couldn't help but think this was an odd one. They told me this was much different than a regular Anima. I never really understood the original one, but from what I gathered, it was activated via a machine that created the gate in the sky and transported parts of Earthland. They used it to take magic power from Earthland and they were able to extract the magic power over here.

Using Reverse Anima would transport the magic from Edolas to Earthland. At least that's what I understand. And this one seems to be different. I mean, they had kept this thing hidden all this time.

Where did they get it from? Why don't they use it?

I can understand why they don't use it. They probably do not need for it since this world is doing good without magic power. But maybe they couldn't use it since it wasn't active.

I looked at Mystogan, "Where'd you get this Anima gate?" I asked

He gave me a serious look, "This gate is different." He said, "It works differently too. It can only be activated once when it is charged long enough. I found it odd that it worked like that and I deemed it useless because there is no magic power here...."

I raised an eyebrow, "You're saying."

He nodded, "Yes." He said, "It had slowly but surely siphoned magic power from you to charge. It took around 2 months to do so. it was convenient for us because we had to know if we were to be trusted. Turned out that you were and not only that, the gate was charged so you can return to your world."

I see. So that's how this one differs. Certainly an odd thing. Would be useless unless I was here. And for some reason, I never noticed my magic power being drained somehow. Well, to be fair, my magic power is cut off from me so I can't even sense it. I could only use the workshop key to access the workshop or sometimes the armory, but this Anima gate in particular is a weird one.

I nodded as I walked in front of it, "Alright then." I said, "I guess it's time."

Mystogan smiled, "Give Fairy Tail my regards, Jason." He said, "I hope they're doing well."

"They are." I said, "They're the usual bunch, I suppose. Had some bumps here and there, a couple of incidents, but nothing too crazy."

"It was good meeting you." He said

I nodded, "Likewise." I said, "Goodbye."

I then stepped through the gate.

As soon as I did, I felt my entire body being pulled through the magical vortex. My entire mind went blank as I felt a strong sensation of pure cold. It was hard to explain but this was different than Selene's spell. A much different feeling than hers, hers felt a bit chilly and serene, this one was a violent cold.

Suddenly, I was floating in the middle of nothing. It was nothing but a black abyss I could barely make out what was in front of me.

"What the..." I said

I could barely hear my voice, I believe I was in some sort of vacuum. It was an odd feeling, I couldn't help but slowly feel a bit anxious.

I then looked to my left as a small dark purple glow. From my perspective, it looked small, but as it began to glow brighter and bigger, I realized it was simply far away.

"What is that thing?" I said

Suddenly, I was hit by a massive wave of magic power. It was something I'd never experienced before. And I've been in the presence of Irene and Selene, who were arguably the strongest mages I've encountered, even if briefly.

My entire body, as it freely floated, began to shake as I felt bone-chilling goosebumps. Despite my senses being somewhat dull, I was able to tell that I was sweating. I'm not sure if it was due to nervousness, anxiety, or fear. But I was still sweating profusely.

The glow was slowly but surely approaching me as I felt the magic power get heavier by the second.

Suddenly, I felt my body being sucked into a single point. I turned to see the swirling vortex of the Anima Gate dragging my body towards it.

As I passed through the vortex, I felt the wind hit my face.

"Huh?" I said as I looked down

I was falling in the air, straight down.

"Shit."
