3. Camp

Cornelius, the one in command of this army, was worried.

He was the one that wrote the letter to his majesty, pleading for additional support because, to his embarrassment, they couldn't defeat a lone man, hindering there progress.

His Majesty was so kind and understanding that he sent, additionally to the five Second Silver Ranks already present, the Platinum Rank, also called Archmage, Archduke Kaido Loewenhertz.

But on Chronos the 15th Anemoi of the year 430, one day after the Archdukes arrival to the camp, who has the special rank and with it the command of the army, decided to engage alone with the lone man and commanded them to stay in camp.

To Cornelius shame ten of his men disobeyed the Archdukes command resulting in the Archdukes need to agree to the lone man's deal.

Today is Nestis the 20th of Anemoi of the year 430.

That makes it five days since then.

There was no further communication in those five days and now it is already past lunchtime but still no sign of return from the Archduke.

Cornelius, already close to despair, didn't know what to do when finally he heard the bell ringing.

The bell indicated the Archdukes return.

Cornelius practically jumped out of his chair and ran out of his tent to verify the truth.

But when he arrived he saw that the Archduke brought someone with him.

He was shocked to realize that, the person standing next to the Archduke, it was the lone man, who they couldn't defeat.

'Why? Why would the esteemed Archduke arrive with that man'

"Colonel Cornelius"

"Yes!"

Kaido saw Cornelius and decided that it would be best to introduce Shinku in front of many eyes to ensure that no problems occur.

"This is Shinku, he will help us. Shinku this is the one in command, responsible for resources."

Shinku, still amazed at Kaido's lack of words, understood Kaido's intention and played along.

"Hello, can I call you Cornelius? You can call me Shinku in turn. I heard from Kaido that..."

"How impudent! To call his esteemed Archduke..."

"Enough. Shinku has permission."

Shinku wanted to be polite and greeted Cornelius while stretching there hand out for a handshake.

But Cornelius refused to shake hands.

Offended by the fact that an unknown man, the man they fought against and most likely of common birth, called the Archduke by his name without any title.

In addition the Archduke allowed them to do so, which was unheard of.

The crowd stirred up, whispering between themselves, some complaining and the others questioning but Shinku ignored them.

"Archduke? I thought you'd be a noble of high rank, seeing how much mana you possess, but I didn't know you were of royal blood. To my defense you never told me the title you have and you never seemed to be bothered by the way I talk to you. Should I talk more politely to you?"

Kaido shook his head in denial, with a tint of red on his cheek, to Shinku's word's.

"It would be uncomfortable, no talking polite, continue as before."

Thump

Cornelius fainted

(The Rest will come at a later Time.)
