fweet!
The whistle sounded as Mori took the leap, although it wasn't as high as anyone in the court, it was still enough to give force for the ball.
It's common knowledge that jump serves, float or not, have a greater force than any other serves. Slamming a ball from a high starting point significantly increases speed and power.
He slammed the ball, though it did not make a loud sound instead, it gave the crowd a deja vu.
The ball traveled slowly and erratically to the other side as Kindaichi attempted to receive it.
It ended up on a lousy receive, which Kunimi took the follow-up as it was about to land outside; however, as if he did not have energy, he did not chase after it till the end.
fweet! Another score for Yukigaoka.
Immediately, Kitagawa's king snapped and caused a stir in the atmosphere. Shoya on the other hand, ignored it and ruffled Mori's hair, who looked embarrassed and happy at the same time.
Shoyo looked enviously as Mori always gets recognition.
" that again!" Shoya said with a big smile and patted Mori on the back.
"Y-yes!"
fweet!
Mori served the ball again however, this time it was a jump serve.
Kitagawa, alarmed, watched as the ball bolted far in the air, noticing where it would land,
Kitagawa number 4 avoided it and shouted.
"Out!"
fweet! Much to Kitagwa's dismay, it landed inside. The ball landed by a hair's breadth near the white paint.
On the other side of the court, Shoya practically jumped at Mori as he ruffled his hair. The others joined in too.
This is one of the reasons, Shoya more or less pampered Mori. Not only does he excel in float serve, but his serves are also terrifyingly accurate.
Accuracy is one of the things that Shoya had been training since the very beginning, yet somehow Mori was able to catch up to him in a matter of 8 months. Shoya himself is more or less a genius, but Mori proves what a hidden gem is, a true diamond in the rough.
As the game continued, Mori proved that he was the joker card of Yukigaoka. He showcased astounding talent, but it couldn't overshadow his lack of experience, as he accidentally directed the ball in front of Kitagawa's number 7, their libero.
The ball was received easily and directed to the setter.
Tobio, who was already fuming, tossed the ball to number 4, who narrowly spiked it with a grunt.
Shoya went for the ball but nevertheless missed it.
"Tsk, my bad-"
"JUMP HIGHER!!RUN FASTER!!" A loud shout came from the other side of the net.
Damn. Cranky much. Shoya thought as he watched the spectacle.
He had already known Tobio Kageyama and his whole tyranny thing, so he wasn't really surprised. And in all honesty, his anger is sorta justified, his team is shit. full or arrogant elite who think giving effort is a disgrace.
"EVEN SOME SCRUBS CAN DO IT, WHY CAN'T YOU?!"
Alright imma kill'em.
Shoya stared at King as if looking at a chihuahua on a leash.
...
he didn't bother listening longer as he might just lose brain cells when the one talking barely had any.
***
As the game continued, it was evident that both sides were getting exhausted by the moments. Two sets have already gone by.
Yukigaoka won the first set at 25:23 points. The second set was won by Kitagawa at 25:18 points.
Currently, the point gap is 1 point with Kitagawa in the lead. 23:22.
Shoya turned to his teammates, heaving for breath. It was already a miracle that they are able to stand after all, even if they had trained through torture, that doesn't erase the fact that they were a bunch of rookies that barely gave anything their all until today. They were beyond exhausted; they were worn out beyond belief. The only reason they could stand it was that the game hadn't ended yet.
It was Kageyama's turn to serve; he performed a normal serve aimed at Izumi.
Izumi fumbled with his feet but managed to receive it, sending it near Shoya. Maybe it was due to exhaustion, but as he was preparing to toss the ball, his hand slipped, sending the ball spiralling to the other side of the net.
f ck. I leave it to you-
An orange blur passed him as he began falling to the ground.
Yonyon.
Shoyo leaped through the air higher than ever before. Everyone watched in shock as they watched Yukigaoka number 1 whiz past the court and suddenly be on the air, ready to spike.
BAM!.
Shoyo spiked the ball with all his might as he fell tumbling down the side barricade. He immediately sat up and looked at the referee, who then pointed at Kitagawa's side.
out.
sh t. Shoyo punched the ground in frustration.
24:22
Shoya turned to his twin and smiled, "heh-... heheha" He went to his brother and gave him a hand. "That was fucking sick." He said as they both fist bumped. "Heh-, it is" Shoyo replied.n
The two of them were the most exhausted in the whole court; only the two of them were the only ones who hadn't been subbed out.
They had been running and flying around the court without pause; they had been the ones filling the gaps for their lacking team.
Their team does not have nearly enough stamina to even keep up on two sets, let alone the third.
But as drained as they are, there is still a game they have to end. And it's either win it or lose it.
Tobio once again served the ball at the referee's whistle.
He had aimed at Shoya to prevent him from setting.
Shoya directed it to Suzuki, who then tossed it to Shoyo.
BAM!
Shoyo slammed the ball right in the middle, prompting Kunimi to receive it.
The ball flew high in the air- "mine!" - Kageyama tossed the ball to Kindaichi.
Kindaichi attempted a feint but was received by Shoya. Koji took the follow-up and tossed it high up just as Shoya instructed.
Shoya took a breath and jumped for the ball- Kitagawa built a three-man block to end this game once and for all- but Shoya did not spike the ball.
Instead, another orange blur jumped up behind him as he descended.
Shoyo slammed the ball back, with Kitagawa's block barely grazing it.
The ball flew up as if signifying a true ending of the rally.
However, just as the ball was landing, a hand got on its way and brought the ball back up; it was Kageyama Tobio. The crowd exclaimed in awe.
that sonova..!!!
Shoya cursed as he watched the ball fly in the air. A wide, frustrated grin spread across his lips.
Kunimi tossed it to Kitagawa captain, who then slammed the ball down.
But-
Kawashima took the dive and brought it the fuck up.
Shoya tossed it to Shoyo. Kitagawa once again formed a three-man wall.
Shoyo spiked, but this time it was blocked.
Kawashima once again dived for the ball

Shoya sat in the locker room with a cold towel in his face.
Damn.
Looking at his teammates bawling their eyes out, while beside him is his brother looking worse for wear.
We lost.
The two of them are already third year. This game was their first and last competition in middle school.
As it was in many things, the first is always meaningful, always has been special, that's why this feeling of loss is all the more heartbreaking. For Shoya, it was as if he had been waiting all his life for this 'first', it was a critical moment for his goal, yet he lost. He fucking lost.
He got up from his moping and gathered everyone's attention.
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
"Now, now, everyone, enough moping. Gather your things and get ready to leave," He said as he picked up his bags, heading for the door.
"Captain..." Kawashima blurted. He knows his upperclassmen's story so he is worried about them both.
Shoya stopped in his tracks and said without turning around.
"Kawashima, I'll leave the team to you as the next captain.
Make sure to train them to the bone the same way I did the past 8 months. I'll leave a training manual to you tomorrow; you're free to modify it."
Shoyo twitched, hearing his brother's voice.
'Ah, that's right,
someone else is more desperate for this chance than I am
Somepnewho had been dreaming of this very day ever since forever
.He thought, so he felt the need to ask.
"...Yanyan, are you alright?"
Shoya continued to walk out as if pretending not to hear.
Hell no. The fuck I'm not.
