Chapter 61: Desperate Situation And Third Awakening

Noticing that they are at a disadvantage the Demon activist started to gradually get concerned, and couldn't help but voice out his thought

"This shouldn't go on we need to finish this fast. Or we will be the ones who will be finished."

"His medium is on his neck."

"So, what if it's there?"

"That means we just have to destroy his device and he will not be able to perform his attacks with Ether."

"That's right. "

"Also when it still doesn't work there is another plan. Crazy Blade whispered to the Demon activist about their backup plan"

"Let's do that." With a smile, he agreed.

Having agreed on what to do, the two charged forth to Jayven with a much more ferocious gait than before Which surprised Jayven.

'What are they planning how come they are coming at me like this?'

And as though they were mad, they attacked in all directions and were finding ways to create gaps in Jayven's attacks and defenses.

But they were still clearly at a disadvantage. Until they had a chance opened for them. In which Jayven was caught off guard

The reason for this is that they started to turn and attack one of the hunters that survived. Which was also the one that was pushed away by the group.

With no choice, he used Shadow to step to the fullest and arrived before the two, ready to defend the hunter

Seeing this opening the two didn't let it go and with all their might they attacked the device on Jayven's neck.

Because of the sudden impact, Jayven was pushed and stunned for a second. Not waiting for Jayven to recover the two attacked him non-stop.

{Master!]

"Kid!"

Seeing Jayven's predicament Phenex yelled in concern and the man he defended felt guilty as he was the reason, they were able to corner Jayven like this.

Still defending the man Jayven didn't hear much word from them or his surroundings with a blank mind he activated his skills and blocked all his senses, movement, and all buffs. 

It was like a do-or-die moment he rushed to increase his ability by using his skill to its limit. And then utilizing his ether gem he activated its ability even with the broken device.

So, with all his might He released a strong surge of power. And like an explosion he broke through all the limits he set for himself.

"What the-?!"

"Impossible!"

Not expecting this the two who were targets of the impact received both his right- and left-hand punch at the same time.

It was unknown what happened then but a notification resounded in Jayven's mind as he accomplished such feat.

[User has exceeded the usage of skill. The skill restraint is undergoing its third awakening.]

"Wait what? Third awakening that was fast." With the notification's help, Jayven regains a bit of his consciousness

{Amazing master!}

"Yeah, thanks, I guess."

{So, what is the effect of their third awakening of yours?}

"I am surprised by how you know about the third awakening but it is indeed special, isn't it?"

{Yes, it is. this ability is one of the reasons why the seven heroes defeated the demon king our former owner, because if that-… Eh, what happened again? I think it is us being sealed or something.}

"What's wrong?"

{I think I have lost a piece of my memory I can't remember much.}

"It's okay. For now, I want to know what my third awakening has in store."

Jayven was excited as he was about to check his third awakening effect. And for a good reason at that. The third awakening which people call the final hurdle is also known as skill assistance.

The reason for the name is because of what it generally means. It is a moment that assists one's usage of skills and improvement of the user.

One example is that of a strength user skill, at first it is just a boost in strength, then the second awakening improves it by giving the user a strong defensive body. 

Once they reached the third awakening, they could collect points by training and for example by lifting weights and taking blows which is based on the skill.

And once that's done there will be these called extra points at the lower end of the stats that would be used to improve a person's attribute or certain areas.

But that doesn't mean it is all good for there are restrictions for it. In this example, they can only improve their strength and Dexterity attributes, and depending on the pressure during training, one can achieve more points.

Not to mention the requirements for the third awakening are a hundred times higher than the previous requirements, which would cost a lot of resources. As for how Jayven accomplished his third awakening is close to impossible. 

So, it is mostly impossible for one to achieve the goal of reaching the third awakening but if they do it would be after wasting resources or time that would possibly reach till, they are grandpas and grandmas.

There are many ways this could be applied depending on the skill and the user because there are those who have the same skill but different awakening processes and effects.

Along with it are different requirements and usage.  As for Jayven, it is something that he didn't know to react to.

"What is this? Isn't this just extortion?"

Looking at his skill effect Jayven had to take a second look at it and he was sure that it was still the same.

Feeling worried by the skill's new effect, he felt at ease until he vomited blood.

"Buegh! Gohohoh."

{Master!} Phenex called out in concern but quickly noticed the reason. {I guess the side effects have kicked in huh?}

"Yeah, I guess, not to mention I have my stats lowered I also have a lot of debuffs right now."

Seeing this the man he was protecting just now noticed the situation and asked about Jayven's condition.

"Are you okay?"

"Oh, mister. Yeah, I am."

"No, you are not you are vomiting blood, but I am so glad you are safe. Also, I am sorry to think he was such a person."

"Don't worry about as long as we are safe then it's alright."

"But the two with you also became his victims. If only I didn't agree back then."

"Well yeah, that did happen."

"Wait they are not dead though."

As they were talking the man suddenly went in the direction where he thought the cousins were dead.

"Eh wasn't it the reason you climbed down to gain power and avenge them?"

Understanding his point Jayven told him the situation of the two, and that they were safe.

"Oh, okay. But why did you want to conquer the dungeon then?"

"To train and avoid confronting that man and defeat him once I grew stronger."

Jayven explained the reason why he decided to raid the place.

"As expected, you both held a grudge against each other."

"No, actually he is a hired assassin."

"An Assassin? To kill who?

"Me. I think?"

"EEeeehhHHH!"

Hearing the reason for the attack left him in shock. But after a few moments, he gained his calm and asked another thing.

"Is the other one also included?"

"I don't know maybe. But since they work together to fight me, they are working as a group."

"I see that is true but can we climb up now? I am worried about everyone."

"Yeah, that is true, I guess we need to say goodbye to this dungeon. But first, we need to recover our strength."

After saying that Jayven took out bottles of potion to drink. And then the two started to recover. And during their recovery, the man asked Jayven something.

"But you own this dungeon right since you took the first clear."

"Even so, this is also a government land. And I can't handle to manage this as it needs an astronomical amount of money to run."

"That is true but they said this is an S-rank monster thought. It feels like a waste."

"Not really, I prefer the other reward. "

"Oh, you mean the treasure chest and boost you get from conquering a dungeon first."

With that, the two continued to rest until Jayven heard Phenex's voice.
