Chapter Thirty-Three:A Stupid Ex.

Seven years!

Seven good years of him trying to prove to his grandfather, that he was the better one. The better grandson unlike Giovanni who still has his own demons to face, but he aligned with his own demons.

If anything he worked with them just so that he could always be there, whenever grandfather was having second thoughts about who was capable of running things in his company.

But now, everything was clear to him. Thos wasn't about him working his ass out everyday to prove anything to him. No! The favoritism has always been there starting from the very first day Giovanni was born.

He's the favorite son, while he's nothing compared to him because he's the son of a wild secretary who found her way into the family by seducing her boss.

Unfortunately Diego doesn't seem to have the same thoughts with his mother, about the reason why grandfather despises them. For a second, he's thinking that his father was hiding things away from them, important things like his father not being the real son of Christopher Russo.

Since there's no way he's treating him any less than the way he's treating his workers, but that's bullshit! Everything grandfather is doing only made the hate he had towards Giovanni, grow more and more that he has never recognized him as a brother.

He has kept up a facade for years, trying to win the love of everyone in the family including that of Giovanni's mother, who could not lie that he's better than her son but it seems Grandfather was the only one who has a different opinion about him.

Diego tightly held the drink in his hand that the glass almost shattered, but the ringing of his phone brought him back to realize that he's been avoiding his parents. No. He doesn't want to go home and has been staying at a friend's house.

"You know you eventually need to go home, tomorrow is the event. You can't skip it." Tervin, the son of a shareholder in his grandfather's company whose father was close friends with his dad, told him, dapping his shoulder with his hand to assure him that everything would work out fine.

But he knew how things work out in the business world, it was the survivial of the fittest! Eat or be eaten that was what business was all about, and no matter how much assurance he gives him, it doesn't change the fate that Giovanni is being sworn in for work tomorrow and that's stealing his spotlight, about him being in charge of the new site from the very first day it was nothing until now.

How would he be able to stand, smile and welcome Goivanni infront of thousands of people, who clearly won't understand the gravity of what his grandfather has done?

Diego didn't talk to him, but dropped his phone before taking his drink up to which Tervin sighed disappointedly, and sat on a chair beside him.

"Listen, man. I get it that you are pissed off, but this doesn't suit you. Come on, you are  Diego, you always figure things out and did you actually think that just because Goivanni has a grand welcoming makes him hardworking?"

His words made Diego turn to face him," What are you trying to say?" He asked, as Tervin smirked before adjusting himself on the seat.

"Our fathers are clearly on the same side, and i will always be on your side. Come on man, I have watched you work your ass off every day, and you possibly think just because Giovanni is the golden boy would make everyone not see that he doesn't deserve such entitlement. He doesn't know how things runs around the company."

Tervins words seemed to be making sense, until Diego remembered since he was a little kid that Giovanni was observed about work until that incident that changed him, took him away and brought him back into something else.

He might have changed, but that doesn't mean that he's stupid and besides whatever reasons, that gave him the courage to come to the company was a strong one, that is what he ought to find out and use it against him.

"I really appreciate Tervin, but you don't know Giovanni the way i do. He might be messed up but he's not stupid." Diego said, taking his drink as Tervin wanted to talk but a feminine voice broke into their convince.

"Diego!!" Tara shouted from where he was, and when the other two turned to see her. Tervin rolled his eyes, he had forgotten to tell Diego that his sister was coming back from the states today, and is clearly going to be at the company event tomorrow, she has always been obsessed with Giovanni since they were kids.

"Hey, Tara." Diego called, before she leaped into his arms.

"You didn't tell me he was going to be here." She cussed at Tervin, who raised his hands up in surrender as if he forgot to do that, but that's because he knew how overbearing she can be.

Tara and Diego dated when they were in highschool, so practically they broke up because of her stupid love she has for Giovanni, who clearly doesn't even know that she likes him.

He doesn't even know why she's attracted to him, because Giovanni was anything but a human being, the motherfucker doesn't have emotions.

"I have missed you." Tara said, running her hands on Diego's chest which made Tervin to excuse himself leaving the two.

When her hand started to descend lower, Diego snatched her hands into his own to stop her." I don't know what motive you have coming back here, but you will do well to avoid me." He said coldly, before walking out on her, but not without taking his phone that was ringing again.

A stupid ex was not something he had the time to take care of now, he pretty much had far more important things to do that to sit here, when he could tell his father all his plans for tomorrow as long as Giovanni ends up being made a fool infront of everybody.

That way he could take back his spotlight from on him, afterall he never really wanted the company, so what changed?
