“It’s high time you saw your son.” My mother spoke as she sat beside me on the edge of the waterfall.

“I can’t.” I sighed staring at the water. “I can’t face him knowing I failed to protect him, that I sat and lived a free life while he was caged, starved, and beaten like an animal.”

“But you rectified that mistake by getting him back and ensuring that he gets the best care possible.” She pointed out. "You've done right by him."

“I don’t feel like I have.”

“It’s high time you gave yourself some credit.” Grabbing my chin, she forced me to look at her. “You are the one who came up with the plans, captured those creatures, and rescued your family, stop beating yourself up over something that you didn’t cause.”
