"That wasn't so bad," I heard Kuma say as he returned from town with Mrs. Daikiri and Alli.

"Big Bro's back!" Kaze said, jumping down from the tire swing on Mrs. Daikiri's property. I'd decided to give the kids a nice break, letting them run and play.

"Yep," Kuma said, showing off some bronze coins.

"Let me count them!" She ran over and began counting each coin. One, two, three... Ten!"

I smiled at the sight of the kids.

"Enough for a trip to the toy store!" Alli said, putting a hand over her head. "Uh, I think."

Mrs. Daikiri sighed. "I wish that were the case, but that's only enough for a small bag of groceries."

Was he saying that because he was a kid and had little understanding of money or because of his family's financial situation?

Kuma tilted his head and blinked. "Is it?"
