Chapter 141: Despair and a New Life

*Orson*

More days passed since then. Ronan hadn't tried to kill Father. Yet, Father was still paranoid about it. He kept ordering the guards to patrol around the mansion. He also got a dog to bark at everything.

Lately, he'd locked himself up in his office. Whenever he got out, he would reek of alcohol. He didn't bother hitting me or Monie. He'd only yell at us and slam the door in our faces. I'd even started to see scratches on his hands.

"What's going on with Papa?" Monie asked, worried.

"He's just stressed out," Mother said. "Don't worry about him."

"Why is he so stressed?"

"Because, his conscious is dirty," I muttered. "He's scared that he'll die because of his actions."

"Orso," Mother said, giving me a look.

I looked down. "Sorry."

She sighed and stroked Monie's hair. "Your papa is just going through a rough time. It has nothing to do with you."
