As we set down to eat, I glanced over at Kaze. I'd been avoiding it for the sake of Sil and Kiki, but I had to tell her about Hideyoshi. If I could avoid accusative language, she might understand me.

"Kaze, can I talk to you?" I asked.

I glanced at the kids. "Can we talk in private?"

Kaze blinked again but nodded. "Okay."

We got up and left the group. Saffron glanced at me, curiosity in his eyes as we walked off.

"So, what's this you want to talk about?" Kaze asked, crossing her arms.

I took a deep breath. "It's about Hideyoshi."

She blinked. "My boyfriend? What about him?"

"Did you know he's a prince of Kasai no Ki?"

Kaze closed her eyes and sighed. "So, that's what it is. I thought you were different from Orlin and you father."

I bit my lip. "I'm not just saying that because he's from our rival nation. Have you heard of the attack in the north?"
