Chapter 546: Shimmering Lake

Rose PoV

I found myself standing on a beautiful clear lake that went on forever. Soft, fluffy clouds in shades of pink, purple, and blue, havored above, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.

Other than me, there was nobody else around. In the center of the lake was what appeared to be a large, partially submerged structure. From this distance, I couldn't tell if it was an ancient ruin or a building out of science fiction.

I decided to walk over to it. What happened? The last thing I could recall was caressing Saffron's face as he tried to save me from my own excess mana.

Was I... dead?

With each step, the water lapped gently at my ankles, sending ripples across the surface. I glanced down and noticed that my reflection shimmered back at me, distorted and ethereal. My heart sank as I studied it—there was an unfamiliar light in my eyes, one that felt distant and hollow.
