Oscars season was coming. Harry didn't win anything but Inception did. But it were all technical awards but Oscar was Oscar.
Best cinematography, sound editing, sound mixing and all that.
Inception was nominated for Best Picture but in the end lost to Hurt Locker.
The best director was given to William Klutcher for Hurt Locker.
Harry wasn't sad. The judges won't give him any major award as he was still young a new. Harry would focus on awards later. Money comes first.
And money, money was ample.
Mr.Bean aired it's first episode and people loved it. It got a rating of 4.5 which was pretty good. If this type of response was kept till the end of show, Harry would be tempted to launch Bean merchandie- teddy, the car and even his trademark suit. They were even getting many sponsorship offers from several brands like Pepsi and Audi. All in all, money was good.
Harry's prediction came true. The first week collection of Green Lantern was 78 million, far greater than Prestige's 55 million. In the next week, Green Lantern show a decline due to rotten word of mouth and bad review by the critics. It was only able to collect 110 million more bringing the total collection to 198 million dollars globally.
Meanwhile, Prestige saw a rise in the subsequent weeks, from 55 million in first weekend to 70 next week and a slow fall to 61 million next week. Globally, it had grossed over 290 million dollars and would soon hit the 300 mark.
Harry was happy, Nolan was relieved, Laurence was busy with Crunchy Roll, Amanda was busy with loans and the split for Minions, Bale was happy, Hugh was happy because his last film Van Helsing flopped and audience loved him in Prestige.
At the end, no one was particularly sad. Maybe except WB.
"How much losses are we going to suffer? " Jameson asked. He and the other executives were in a meeting regarding their recent disaster.
Even Ryan Reynolds couldn't save the film from flopping.
"Taking the original 200 million budget and the 50 million marketing cost, we have grossed about 210 million. But after all the cuts taken by theatres and other parties, they would only get 110 million in their hands. A 140 million loss... " One of the executives said.
Jameson sighed. His position was under a huge threat. He tried squeezing out DC and he failed miserably.
"Time Group have told us to make up for our losses otherwise they will start laying off many people."
Total 400 million loss in three DC films. It was understandable for their big boss to be pissed. They would probably have lost their trust in DC by now.
Reece, the President of DC Studios was nervous. WB was seeing them like they were some sort of a bad omen, seeing that their films have flopped one after another. He feared for the future of the company.
"Sir, people from the Times Group have arrived. "
