Chapter 2

"Alright," William said as he focused his eyes on the orb of light in Sarah's hand. He gently held his hand out as well and concentrated on the crystal in his palm.

As he did, he felt a surge of power flow from the crystal to his arm and beyond, sending streaks of lightning snaking across his body. He felt a rush of energy flowing through his veins and felt as if he could control even more power than before.

"How... how is it?" He asked Sarah. She just smiled back at him.

Sarah looked him up and down, sizing him up.

"That was a very impressive first attempt," she said with a smile. She nodded as if confirming to herself that he was indeed getting the hang of controlling his power.

William was excited. He felt the power coursing through his veins, ready to be unleashed.

"So, what can we do with this power?" he asked her. Sarah nodded, then responded.

"Well, you have a chaos crystal," she said. "You could technically destroy the entire world..."

William looked at her in surprise. "Destroy the world? But I don't want to do that."

Sarah looked back at him and smiled. "No, don't worry. We're not going to destroy the world. "

She thought for a moment. "But we can do other things with this power. "

She held up her left hand again, this time with not just the orb of light but several others, each in a different color. "This is the basics of spell casting. With your powers, you can do things like these."

Her demonstration of the colorful and impressive spells grabbed William's attention. He couldn't stop staring at them as the colorful lights and colors danced across his eyes. "That's amazing..." he said, still mesmerized by the lights in Sarah's hand.

He looked back down at the chaos crystal in his hand, feeling its power grow and his ability to control it get even stronger.

"I... I can do this?" he asked Sarah. "I can do magic?!"

Sarah nodded with a smile. "Yes, you definitely can. "

William felt powerful and confident with his new ability. "I have to learn how to do these things..." he said as he looked back up at Sarah.

"You can train me, right?" he asked. "I think I can learn this. I really want to learn how to do these things. "

Sarah smiled and put the multi-colored orbs away. "Of course, I'll teach you, William."

William nodded in agreement and looked her right in the eyes. "I'm really glad to have you to show me the ropes. "

"Thank you," William said softly. He looked her in the eyes for a moment, then finally broke eye contact with Sarah, looking down at his chaotic hand again.

"I can't stop seeing the lightning when I look at you. " He said.

Sarah looked at his hand and nodded. She had noticed the streaks of energy running across his hand, too. She gently placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Let's go over some of the basics of magic, William. " Sarah said.

"Sure," William said, still looking at the crystal and seeing the electricity running across his palm. He felt like he could create anything he wanted. Like reality itself was just a toy he could control with his powers.

"Basic spell casting is what I'll start with," Sarah said. "And once you know the basics, you'll be able to do any kind of spell you like."

"But first things first," she continued. "You need to know how to handle this power without losing control."

William nodded in agreement and looked up at Sarah in anticipation.

"Okay, the first thing you need to know is how to control the flow of power into your body." Sarah said. "Remember that this chaos crystal is unstable and you can't allow it to become too powerful. "

Sarah reached out her hand, summoning another colored orb in her palm. This time, it was bright red.

"Do you see the color of the orb?" she asked William.

William nodded and focused his eyes on the bright red orb in Sarah's hand.

"Yes. I see it," he said. "Red..."

Sarah nodded. "Good, you have sharp eyes. And do you see how stable the orb is?"

William nodded again. "It seems like a stable shape... there's no lightning moving around it."

Sarah nodded and smiled, still holding the red orb in the palm of her hand.

"Exactly, the orb is stable. It's not moving like your energy is. When you learn to control the power you've been granted, you will learn to make your energy flow in stable forms like this orb in my hand."

William looked down at his hand, where the chaos crystal was still pulsing with energy. "So if I can make my energy stable like that, I'll be able to use it to... to do magic?" he asked.

Sarah nodded her head. "Yes, you'll be able to do a lot with the power of this crystal. "

William nodded again, turning his hand over so that he could study the patterns the chaos crystal was creating.

"So how do I do it?" he asked. "I have all this power, but I don't know how to use it... "

Sarah placed her hand on his shoulder and smiled as she looked at him.

"The first thing you need to do is calm down. You have to learn how to be in control."

William nodded in agreement. "Of course... that makes sense."

She looked at him for a moment, then continued.

"Close your eyes... and don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you. But you need to focus on letting your energy be stable..."

He closed his eyes, feeling the familiar energy still running through his veins and throughout his body. He took a few deep breaths and tried to relax his mind.

He could still feel the power pulsating in his veins and the light from the crystal glowing in his palm.

He took a few deep breaths, then held his hand out before him and opened his eyes.

The crystal was still pulsating with energy, but the streaks of lightning were no longer dancing across his skin. Instead, they were gathered in his palm, slowly rotating steadily.
