Revelation

"Who does mother hate me?" I asked.

Papa and I were inside my room as the servants took out the planks of woods off of the window.

Papa sat down on the best and holstered me up on his laps.

I loved how he smelled so lovely, how young he looked.

Papa was a high ranking and respected Fae in our city. He had Long blonde hair and his brown eyes lit under the sun.

As a Fae once you reached the age of twenty you stop growing and begin to slowly grow at a slow pace.

A Fae could be two hundred years old and look like he was only in his early thirties.

Papa looked like he was in his early twenties and refused to tell us how old he truly was.

"Your mother doesn't hate you." He said as he smoothed my hair. "She is just…. Frustrated. You won't understand my love. But I assure you she doesn't mean to harm you."

I bit my lip.

"I want to go to school papa." I begged. "I've read the scribes and I've studied all the books in your study. I know everything. I just want to go out."

"My love." He said his eyes looking sad. "You staying here is for your protection."

"Because I'm a freak?" I repeated what Elvira said.

He sighed. "You're no freak. You're perfect. Everything about you is perfect."

I jerked out of his hold.

"Then if I'm not a freak, why can't I be like a normal Fae? What has happened to my ears? Why does the physician come every week with medication? Why am I not allowed in public? Why is Elvira awful at school and yet she still goes wherever she wants? Why?" I demanded shocking myself.

"We're protecting you." He told me.

"I'm strong papa." I said. "I am strong. Please believe me."

He set me down on my bed and got up.

"No Angel. It's for your own good." He said. "You have your tutors. You have everything you need it."

"I'm not happy." I begged.

"Everything that we've done for you is for you." He said and then he tucked a lose strand of my hair behind my ear.

"You look so much like..

He stopped, and his face paled.

I looked so much like who?

He didn't finish what he was about to say.

He kissed my forehead and left the room.

The servants had removed on the wooden planks and left the windows.

The moonlight lit up my room and I sat down by the window pane and leaned my head by the window sill.

I had fallen asleep when I heard some noises.

They were faint and I could barely hear anything.

They were my parents voices and I heard my name in the conversation.

I tiptoed out of my room and led on to where their voices came from.

"I've done everything you asked me to do." Mother said. "Everything."

"You hit her! You actually hit her." Papa snapped. "I've told you Helen. The next time you cross me. I won't just be choking you to the wall."

Mother snorted. "She isn't even my child."

I froze.

"Angel is our daughter that's all that matters." Papa said grabbing mother's dress.

"If it were all that matters then why do you keep on treating her every week to conceal the fact that she is a human?" Mother said.

My whole world came tumbling.

Human?
