Chapter 13: Recruiting Event

“So the bottom line is, we need two more people?” Greg rubs his hand over his scruffy cheek and nods. “I think we can do that. There’s that big social event thing tonight. I bet we can find at least two people who might want to join the pack.”

“I don’t want just anyone,” I tell him. “I need them to be people who get along with the rest of us. I don’t want to start off a pack with complete strangers. We need to be a single unit.”

Freddy gives me a lurid smile. “So, you want us to find people we want to, um, play with?”

Why do men always think with their d*cks?

“I wouldn’t be totally opposed to that,” Helliot says. “But I mean, what are the odds? I’d be happy if they just aren’t jerks. Though I wouldn’t say no to a broad-shouldered fireman type. Hairy arms, hairy chest. Looks like he could toss me over his shoulder caveman style.” She smiles wistfully.
