Jun called Evan in for a training demonstration. From how the Beta reacted, he hadn’t expected it, but good-naturedly gave in. I sat on the outside of the group circles watching. 


You’d think I had the plague with how almost everyone went out of their way to avoid me. Cassie had glanced my way a few times, but after what happened, I wanted nothing to do with her. With friends like her, who needed enemies?


Jun and Evan circled each other. The trainer still wore his sling, and Evan’s shirt was damp with sweat after our training session from only a few minutes ago. It left them evenly matched, though I didn’t know how Jun hoped to take him down with only one arm.


It started out fine. Both shifters circled the ring, eyeing each other for weaknesses. I noticed Jun had a slight hitch on his left side, something I wouldn’t have a few weeks ago. Evan’s training was paying off.
