Chapter 17: First Comes Marriage

A couple of weeks passed by in a daze of shifter kids and training that exhausted me to the bone. There'd been no sign of Rory, but asking about her led to some heated glares, so I learned to keep my mouth shut. Apparently, the Pack was either Team Rory or Team Pack. Not Team Aspen.

Unsurprising, but at least they didn't try to bite my head off about it. Marie turned out to be a great trainer and combined with Evan's expertise, I slowly got the hang of their fighting style. Granted, I had no sharp teeth or claws, my greatest weapon being witty repartee, but I managed to muddle through it okay.

My body showed the most changes in the mirror. I'd always been on the short and curvy side, but with a little more cushion in the hips and thighs. The hard work showed in the sleek curve of my thigh muscles when I turned to the side and loosened jeans I had to cinch with a belt.
