The Blazing Sun in Summer

The Last Chapter

During the first year of my graduate studies, Damon drove from Northriver to see me.

At dusk, as I finished class, I saw Damon smiling and waving at me outside of the building.

After a year of work, Damon became more mature than his peers.

His excellent ability soon won the appreciation of his boss, followed by promotions and pay raises. Later, he was about to pay off his debts. From time to time, I would receive gifts from Damon, leading my roommates to suspect that I had a sugar daddy.

To be honest, I knew Damon's job was not that easy. There were countless midnight moments when he drank to the point of vomiting on his knees by the toilet and collapsing on the roadside. When Dylan took him home, he still muttered my name.

A few days ago, he made a big deal and said he was coming to see me, but I didn't know it would be so soon.
