Just as I was about to fight back, Alex's phone rang.
It's Jaxx again! When will he let up?
"Should I answer?"
I said firmly, "Of course!"
Clearly, Jaxx was prepared for this! If we both vanished, he would definitely get suspicious.
The video call connected, and Jaxx's laughter rang out: "What's up, bro?"
"Just finished a movie, gonna hit the hay." Alex feigned a yawn.
"Watching a movie alone? You're not hiding someone in your room, are you? Don't bring any riff-raff home while I'm out."
The riff-raff Jaxx referred to looked nervous, pulling her toes inwards, afraid of giving herself away.
Alex, however, seemed to do it on purpose, spinning the phone around.
I was so scared that I quickly pinched him.
Alex even made a noise! This guy's got guts!
As expected, Jaxx picked up on it, asking, "What's that noise?"
"Leg pain," Ales lied with a poker face.
"Don't think that I'll let you go just because your leg hurts..."
