An Adventure in the Locker Room

"Doctor, is he all right?"

The kind-faced female doctor studied the X-ray, her gentle expression unchanged, "Young lady, he's your boyfriend, right?"

I shook my head, about to speak when she interrupted me with a smile. "You have to take good care of him. He's seriously injured and needs a cast, and he might have to use a wheelchair if getting around is too difficult."

"Is it... serious?"

Jaxx always fights outside, but he's never broken any bones. How come Alex snapped like a twig under my weight?

"No worries, young blood heals fast," the doctor said.

I looked at Alex, sprang to my feet, and bowed deeply. "I'm sorry!"

The female doctor was amused by my actions. She glanced at him and said, "It's not a big deal. Boys will be boys, after all."

Alex rolled his eyes at me, "Don't act like I'm knocking' on death's door."

No, not at all.

I just felt like when it rains, it pours.

I lost my love, and on top of that, I caused Alex to get hurt.
