Please Open the Door at Midnight

"Miss Sherwood, if there's nothing else, we're leaving now." The security guards said goodbye to me.

"I'll go with you."

I didn't have the courage to stay in my apartment alone.

I went to the duty office and sat there until dawn. Frank called again and asked me if I had a good sleep last night.

He almost roared when he learned that I didn't stay in a hotel and had a narrow escape last night. "Violet, you must move from there to our new home today. It's safe there. Only in this way can I rest assured."

"But..."

"There's no 'but'. I know you don't want to move in with me before we get married. I promise you that we'll get our marriage license as soon as I get back. We'll be legally married then."

Frank was right. My life clearly outweighed my concern.

I moved in with Frank.

Frank's house was in the best part of the city. It was very safe there. I should be safe if I went there.
