The Fitness Camp

Alice's question weighed heavily on me.

I could sense that she had struggled with trust issues for a long time before asking for mine.

"Alice," I replied, "while I'm not a saint, you can trust me. If I wanted to, I could have reported you to Coach Carter already. Plus, you have no other options right now."

Alice wiped the corners of her eyes and smiled sweetly.

"I trust you," she said. "You're right. I'm not here to lose weight. I'm an intern police officer, and I'm here to investigate the real cause of my cousin's death."

"The real cause of your cousin's death?"

Alice glanced back at the others and quickened her pace slightly as she spoke, "You must have noticed by now that this weight loss training camp is very suspicious. But have you ever wondered why not a single person who successfully lost weight and left here has ever sued the company? I've searched for previous program trainees, and they all said that the company is excellent and nothing is wrong with it."
