Tempered glass like the one used for the bridge shouldn't have cracked so easily.

However, given the current situation, it was unlikely to hold up for much longer.

Eli and I both recognized the urgency of the situation. "Quick, we need to run! The glass is about to break!"

Eli shouted, taking the lead as a few of the more daring men in the front of the group followed his example and ran forward. Despite their weight and clumsiness, they moved surprisingly fast when their lives were on the line.

Alice also grew anxious and urged Nora and Jean to run.

The group pressed forward once again, and while most of us made decent progress, Eli and I struggled. Hank's weight and injured legs made it difficult for him to walk, let alone pick up the pace.

As we neared the end of the bridge, the gap between us and the others widened to about a third of a mile.

Despite the relatively short distance, Eli hesitated to move forward.
