The Emerald House

The car passed a wheat field.

There were many straw men in it.

I accidentally glanced at the rear-view mirror and was so scared that I gasped for breath.

Those straw men who should have been back to us turned their heads in unison.

Bang!

When we were chatting happily, it seemed that something hit the front of the car and made a muffled sound.

Then the car jolted violently, and the front and rear wheels crashed on something one after another.

All of a sudden, Sebastian Lynch's face turned pale and he stepped on the brake hard.

"What's the matter?" Wendy Abrams, who was sitting in the passenger seat, asked. The crisps in her hands were scattered everywhere because of the sudden stop.

"I seem to have bumped into something..." Sebastian said in a trembling voice.

When we got off the car, the pungent smell of rubber pervaded the air, and there were two black traces left by the tires on the road.
