My mind was in turmoil.
I didn't know how I got off Dale's lap. Carol was whispering something in my ear, but I was too frustrated to listen to her.
I bent down to pick up my sweater and coat, and suddenly a woolen jacket was draped around my shoulders.
I looked up in shock, but Edward did not look at me. He just turned to Carol and said, "Take your sister and let's go."
Then he left, not bothering to look back at me.
Carol came over to help me. I pushed her hand away and said, "I'm fine."
As I passed Cyntheria, I stopped and said, "I want to talk to her."
Edward paused for a moment and then walked away.
Cytheria looked up at me with a pale face.
"You may have your own difficulties, but I won't forgive you."
She turned her face away in silence and closed her eyes. Then I saw tears stream down her face.
