"Sure will." Tommy said, then pointed to the black Mercedes-Benz SUV parked on one side of the fueling station, which they brought along.
"That's a bulletproof SUV. I'm sure Boris would be thinking you're dead by now so I think it's safe to move. But you have to be careful here on out. Also, I'll be in the vehicle with you. And due to the buff you have given me, I'm sure I'll be able to protect you." Tommy explained.
"Thanks, brother. I really don't know how to repay you." Cedric said.
"You've already done that, bro. This is just me extending a hand." Tommy chuckled heartily and replied.
About ten minutes later, they both finished their meals and were en-route to the airport. Cedric was able to immediately pay for his tickets thanks to Tommy who had many friends there due to his military influence and connections.
On getting home, Florence hugged her husband with tears in her eyes because she would have lost him to an accident two hours ago. On hearing his voice after his near miss with death, her mind was put to rest and she slept off after properly feeding young Adrian.
"Thanks, Tom. I'm grateful for the help." Cedric said to Tommy on his way back to base.
"It's nothing, man. I'm ready to help anytime. Just holler when you're finally making the trip, alright?" Tommy replied.
"Alright man. It's good to know I can count on you." Cedric said. Then they exchanged handshakes. Tommy then went on his way. While Cedric went to check on his son.
The flight was scheduled on the third day of the following month. Strangely, Boris hadn't planned any attack whatsoever. To Florence, it was something to be happy about but to Cedric, he was worried. He felt like Boris was on his tail but was just waiting for the perfect time to act.
The following month, Florence and Cedric packed up their clothes and waited. Cedric called Tommy, telling them they were ready to leave. To their surprise, Tommy came in a cab.
They wasted no time in loading their luggage into the trunk, with Tommy helping them. When they were ready, the family zoomed off.
Meanwhile, about two houses from Cedric's, a black Toyota Camry SE pulled out and tailed them.
"So what's the idea, Tommy?" Cedric asked. "A cab wasn't what I expected."
"If you were expecting a military entourage, that won't work. It'll draw too much attention. I rented this cab from a friend. The idea is to get you to my convenience store. We'll go on from there." Tommy explained.
"That's your plan? A convenience store?" Florence asked, unconvinced.
"Mrs. Alexander, be rest assured. You'll be wowed at how much secrets my convenience store can keep." He said then winked at her from the rear mirror.
Then his eyes caught something. On instinct, he turned to the street on the right.
"The highway's up front, Tom." Cedric said, not having any idea for Tommy's action.
"Plans have changed. We're being tailed." Tommy said emotionlessly, his eyes fixed on the road.
Cedric and Florence turned around and saw a black Toyota following them through the cab's rear windshield.
"Try making another turn." Florence said to Tommy.
"Yes, ma'am." Tommy said casually and turned to the right, which turned out to be a dead end.
The black Toyota also made the turn. Tommy stopped the car.
"Stay here. You can either watch the upcoming show, or you keep your heads down." Tommy said, all the while, looking at the windscreen in front of him.
He unlocked the car door, stepped out and looked back at the Camry.
The Camry door came open and a blacked-out masked man came out bearing an M4 rifle with a silencer prepped at its muzzle.
"You'd better turn around now if you still wanna live." Tommy warned.
The man just snorted and took aim at Tommy, who didn't even flinch.
PEW!
The bullet flew out of the barrel with a barely audible sound and hit Tommy clean between the eyes.
SHRIEK!!
Florence shrieked from inside the cab and quickly covered her mouth with her hands so as to prevent the sound from escaping. Cedric held her close and pet her, and at the same time told her to look.
She decided not to, that it was a terrible sight. Her voice was shaken with her crying. Cedric just pet her to calm her down, then watched.
Tommy just put his head down but apart from that, nothing much changed. He still stood his ground. Blood was dripping from the hole on his forehead where the bullet went in.
The assassin snorted again.
"You should watch your words, cab driver. You aren't stronger than the bullet." The assassin said, cocked his gun again and began walking towards the cab.
PLINK! PLINK! PLINK!
The assassin stopped short on hearing the sound of a tiny metallic object falling. He looked at where the sound came from and saw a bloodied bullet rolling towards his feet.
"Haha..haha..haha..." The assassin pointed his gun at Tommy, whose shoulders were shaking out of his sheer intense evil sounding laughter.
Tommy's forehead was bloody, but anyone could see that the bullet wound has sealed up, leaving the spot as smooth as it was before.
"Nice. The bullet went far, but not far enough. Whoo! It's been a long time since someone shot me between the eyes. I guess I'm immortal now. Haha." Tommy said while wiping the blood from his forehead.
On seeing that bullets had no effect on Tommy, the masked man proceeded to shoot at the taxi.
Cedric, who was elated at seeing the effect of the serum on Tommy, quickly understood the assassin's next move.
He pulled Florence and little Adrian to the floor of the car and bent his head, awaiting the bullet shower to be released.
On seeing that the assassin now pointed his rifle at the taxi, Tommy quickly went into action. The first bullet was released. It was about going past Tommy, but when it got close to him, he whacked it away to a nearby brick wall, shocking the assassin the more.
Before the assassin could pull the trigger again, he realized his rifle has been cleanly cut in two, with the barrel and the muzzle in Tommy's hands, while he held on to the trigger part.
Quickly, the bewildered assassin dropped the damaged firearm and attempted to pull out a sidearm from his side but there was a bright light, and the assassin discovered he couldn't move his arm as a sharp pain coursed to his brain through his right hand.
He looked at his right hand, and discovered that it wasn't there anymore. The stump was dripping with fresh blood.
He then looked at Tommy and saw a military combat knife that had one side jagged. Thick blood was dripping slowly from the knife.
And it was a clean cut.
"This yours?" Tommy said. The assassin looked at him and saw his severed right arm holding the pistol in Tommy's hand.
What the hell happened? It took literally fifteen seconds for everything to unfold.
He looked at Tommy's face and at that moment, he felt numb. He couldn't even feel the pain from his severed arm. Tommy resembled the grim reaper, coming from the depths of hell to harvest souls. His soul to be exact.
Tommy took the firearm from the assassin's severed right arm and tossed the arm aside.
He pointed the gun at the assassin, who stood rooted to the spot, like he knew his death was only moments away. And he couldn't escape it.
"I should've torn you apart, but I don't want to make a mess here. And just so you know, I'm in no way a cab driver. I'm your assassin, assassin."
POW!
Tommy pulled the trigger and let the bullet fly. The speeding bullet hit the assassin between the eyes, ending his life in an instant. The assassin's corpse fell back with a thud.
Cedric held on to his family after hearing the report of that shot, expecting the rear windscreen to be shattered and more bullets to come flying in.
