As soon as we entered the city, we were approached by a young girl.

"Hello, My name is Azure! Nice to meet you!" She introduced herself.

The kids were excited to see her. They ran up to her as she tried to calm them down.

"Big sis Azure!" Natasha smiled brightly as Nathan tried to hold her back. It felt like a beautiful reunion. I looked at princess Neolyn, who looked emotionless. Like she was going to kill them in their sleep later on.

"Neo" Miss Amelia called her. She snapped out of it and spoke to the girl.

"Hi Azure, I'm Neolyn" She smiled.

"did you kind these kids in the forest?" Azure asked her.

"Yeah! I think They were being chased by some esper traffickers!" She replied.

"oh! thanks so much!" Azure held Neolyn's hands and began to cry and explaining her side of the story.

Long story short. They were part of an orphanage that specifically raised espers. One day, people form the Nacht kingdom approached to recruit the Espers for war. But when the orphanage refused. They burned the whole place to the ground. some children managed to escape.

And that some of them included Kia, vector, Azure, and the kids. The other two had rented out an large space in hopes to rebuild the orphanage.

"And I sensed Natasha's wolves form the gates and rushed here!" She finished explaining as we were on the way to the said orphanage.

"I see! Must have been difficult for you" I said.

"Yeah! But it'll all be alright" Azure said while caressing Natasha's hair.

"why did they need espers?" Neolyn asked.

"I don't know, I guess it had something to do with someone who killed the Ambassador of the Atelier and then blamed it on the Tenebris kingdom" Azure explained while scratching her head.

We reached the place, after a short walk. It was a large place, with a small shack in the middle. There are signs of a new building being built for the children.

"Big sister Azure's here" a bunch of kids swarmed at us.

Seeing the great army of little demons, I quickly jumped and used a secret technique which dad taught me, whenever i wanted head pats.

physique is an common technique used by all espers. But it's effects greatly vary upon what kind of power they have or special privileges they unlocked in their imaginary bodies. there are different forms like cat, which turns me into a cat! But that was a mistake as it drew more attention to me.

"hey! the black sister disappeared! where did she go?" the children were curious.

"hmm! i wonder where?" Amelia smiled at me while i hid in her hair.

"hey! there's a cat! can we cook it?" one of the kids asked.

"ah! no, that's my friend Neolyn, She turns into a cat when she's around a lot of people" Amelia explained.

"can we pet her?" a little girl asked in a sweet voice.

"yeah! sure" said the traitor as she grabbed me and handed me to the girl.

Amelia, mark my words! You will regret this- oh god, this feels good. This girl had to be a professional cat head patter. because her head pats feel really good. Looking at me, Amelia smiled happily

"Kids! don't trouble our guests." Azure said softly as she slowly lifted me.

"Azure! did you return?" A loud voice was heard from the back. A young girl slightly taller to Azure appeared.

"Yes! Kia, and i found Nathan and Natasha!" Azure smiled.

It was nighttime. We had finished dinner and we were sitting near the garden, where all the kids were being trained by Kia and Azure. Princess Neolyn was still in her cat form and she loafed beside me. She kept looking at the training session.

"hey! Alex, why do you think they are training?" She asked me slightly irritated.

"Umm! Azure told us that they've been through a lot and need to protect themselves." I answered.

"Alex, do you know why you were chosen for the ECC?" She asked.

"i don't really know, but it's definitely not for my control over my flames." I looked at the small dim fire i created.

"Yeah, It's defo not your fire!"

"thanks, then why?"

"you understand people better!" she replied.

"i-what?"

"you can see a person's inner flame, which to you represents their true nature!"

"i- how do you know?" i was stunned, this particular ability is one that only I know and I've made sure that no one knows about this.

"although most people won't accept it, the title of an empress has been bestowed upon me by the emperor Joseph and emperor Abraham. That means I'm considered as an empress just the same as empress Frostine or empress Draconia. This is just the most basic of things i could do, since I'm Empress frostine's student" prin- no Empress Neolyn explained.

"So I was chosen for some side ability, not my main perk!"

"well, the ECC was created mainly to maintain justice and order and deal with problems that only espers can deal with. We really don't need anymore fire power. Now back to my question! why are they training?" she turned back into her human form and gazed into the sky.

"they are training to fight!" I answered.

"No! they are training to kill" She replied, as two of Natasha's wolves devoured the wooden dummy.
