"I suppose that fits what all the reports say about you. Hard to reconcile the sheer extremes that are both of those facets that make up who you are. They just seem like they shouldn't exist in the same individual." she said frankly. I could understand that better than most as even I had felt the dissonance. Coldly ripping apart criminals only to moments latter create potions meant for healing like I hadn't. Perhaps that just meant that there was something wrong with my mind but it worked so who can say for sure.-
Gardenia didn't stay for long and once she was fully convinced that I wasn't going off the deep end she excused herself to get back to work. I too didn't stay long after she left and finally started making my way towards the galactic building. Sure there was a fence blocking access to it and even slightly obscured by the trees in the land within the property but how nobody knew it belonged to galactic confused me. The building had the stylized G on it's face after all. I easily cut through the lock on the fence with my spear and walked unto the property.-
Understandably the place was quite quiet as the team members remaining had vacated the place leaving all the stuff behind to start fresh. I released my smaller pokemon to stretch their legs but we didn't trash the place as we were under no timeline anymore and could take our time here. I searched through the reception area and found a few spare uniforms as well as some loose poke but that was it. Moving deeper into the building I finally came across something worthwhile in the form of a resource stockpile.-
Thanks to the records I found there I discovered that Cyrus cleverly spread out the stockpiles in different parts of the building. So if someone were to for some reason break in they'd likely only get the low quality resources as the really important stuff was kept much further in. By low quality i mean more common and cheap rather than actually of low quality. This stockpile for example had a full set of tier five elemental stones as well as a few mid grade supplements of various kinds, mostly poison or normal types though.-
Clearly this stockpile was for the grunts who did a good enough job but weren't exceptional by any means while the stones were a burglar distraction. Regardless I stashed everything into my bag and moved on. At the front of the building where I was currently most of the rooms were living quarters for the grunts or unimportant researchers. From these places I managed to get some miscellaneous items and poke. A couple of the researchers even left out papers that they were studying as homework. Nothing extreme or groundbreaking though just data from tests they had run. It wasn't worth anything to me personally but I figured Rowan or Birch might appreciate it far more and stashed it.-
Moving deeper into the complex I came across an annoying pressure plate puzzle blocking the way forward with five different places to step that you had to step on in the correct order to open the door. Unfortunately I couldn't even use the scuff marks on the floor to tell what that order was as all of the tiles had them. Helplessly I could only put in one order after another until I finally discovered the correct one an hour later. I could probably have busted down the door but there was no telling what sort of reaction that would bring if this place was meant to keep powerful pokemon from escaping.-
The most likely one was some sort of knockout gas but I wasn't willing to fuck around and find out. Moving into the deeper parts of the building I came across labs, containment units and even a whole fully functional genetics area with everything you might need to modify genes and create clones from them. In the containment area I found malformed specimens of failed modifications on the Celebi line as well as dead Unknown that they had clearly been trying to extract the genes from to modify.-
I shuddered at the thought and could only celebrate that they were unsuccessful in this endeavor. Unknown as seen from a pure power standpoint weren't all that powerful but what they did have that made them dangerous was the ability to ever so slightly warp reality. Minorly by themselves but in groups no less terrifying than Dialga or Palkia. I imagine that Cyrus hoped by creating a modified Unknown he could have that same level of warping with a single individual to control it far more precisely.-
Unlike most pokemon however the genetic structure of Unknown was a ridiculously unique thing as the species were chaos born rather than created by Mew or the world itself. In other words they were closer related to Arceus than they were to any other species in existence as both were born in the chaos that came before all else. I'm not saying that it would be impossible to clone or modify the genes of such a thing but the difficulty was frankly insane to even consider trying. Ironically all of this tech that many would drool over was nearly useless to me.-
Sure I had the genetic samples from my trip to the past in Orre that I could clone with this stuff but I couldn't keep any of it as I was at the limit the league was willing to accept. Hell I was only able to carry seven pokemon on me because one of them was technically a noncombatant and thus by loophole didn't count towards my team limit but that was REALLY pushing it. This exact problem was actually why many powerful trainers had a sort of territory of their own as they could then train more than the standard six at a time since they weren't carrying the pokemon around with them.-
I was a wandering trainer though so it was no more pokemon for me until my current roster cleared up some space. The worse part had to be the pokemon ticket I had collecting dust in my bag that had the potential to be something great but only just that, potential. Anyways I poured over the data they had and to my surprise discovered that there was more than one successfully modified Celebi. The one I sent to Birch to get sent to Oak was only one of two successful specimens.
