Surge nodded grimly "If the most recent intel from the league is right he has every right to be so confident. Of all the people to become a god it just had to be him. You're dismissed, keep an eye out for him for now. We need as much intel as possible to decide what our next move is." he said and the grunt saluted before leaving the office while I casually transferred myself to the desks shadow as the grunt left. Once alone Surge wasted no time at all dialing a number into his desks communication line.-
The line rung out for a few moments before it was answered with a loud "click". "Surge report." a familiar voice spoke succinctly from the other end, Giovanni himself. Naturally I recorded this as well since this helped my case against the man for later. "All reports state that none were able to see how he got off the ship only that he seemed to appear from thin air. He also vanished after walking into an alley so I suspect he noticed something." Surge stated seriously. The line remained silent for a few moments as though Giovanni was processing the information he received before he spoke again.-
"Cease all criminal activities in the city for now. I don't want him to catch even a whiff of you or your subordinates while he is lurking about. After the failure of the Mewtwo project to create a god of our own from Mews DNA we have nothing that can stand against the force at his disposal. While I would like nothing more than to believe the man is lying about becoming a god all evidence points to him being truthful. The research department is currently piecing together everything we know about him in an attempt to understand how others may do so as well, we need time for this however. Time he won't give us if he catches our trail. " Giovanni spoke firmly.-
"Understood. And the others?" Surge asked curiously. "The same orders have been given. We are going dark until the time is right." Giovanni said with finality before hanging up. Surge frowned in annoyance before sighing and hardening his face. Pressing a series of buttons on his communicator he waited and soon six people walked into the room and he spoke again.-
"The boss has sent out new orders. Until he says otherwise we are going dark. Bring in all our grunts in the city and "liquidate" the extras we don't need to function." he spoke firmly and the six people who I assumed were division leaders nodded before leaving to carry out the order. I waited patiently for a while but once it became clear Surge was done with all that I might be able to record from the shadows I warped through the bases various shadows until I left the base. The evidence I had gathered wasn't airtight but was good enough for now.-
I had no intention of stepping in right now as this "liquidation" of theirs was no different from tightening the noose around their necks as I no longer needed to hunt down all these people. All that would be left would be those I needed to hunt making the job nice and easy. For Surge though I still had to do some espionage to gather the rest of the evidence I needed to get away with severing his head from his shoulders. While my impending ascension meant I could ignore the league it didn't mean I was willing to burn those bridges unnecessarily.-
Godhood or not having the animosity of most of the human race for however long it takes for them to forget what happened just because I couldn't be bothered to do a bit of extra work was stupid. Once I left the base I casually made my reappearance in the same alley I entered previously just because I knew it would fuck with the people watching for me. They may even think I set up some sort of hidden base there and go snooping around pointlessly. My shadow warp ability was still a secret to the league and as a result also to Rocket.-
No amount of creative thinking would link the ability to me either so long as I kept any signs of it's usage limited. It also helped that the ability was ridiculously rare to begin with, only four reported users EVER in fact. Most uses of the ability came from pokemon of the ghost type persuasion as a mere standard skill they had. It was bound to take a few days for Surges part of Team rocket to finish their violent restructuring so I had some time to kill before it was time to kill.-
Naturally the first thing on the agenda was settling my living arrangements. As it happened I remembered a character in the games who might solve this problem for me easily. In the north eastern corner of the city was a large vacant lot of land that a Machop was busy stomping around while an old man sat nearby lazily. It was a sort of running gag in the kanto centric games that the man was working to build a house but never gets past the preparation stage of things even years later.-
It was a classic example of looking busy but accomplishing nothing at all. I was ridiculous as hell anyway so I figured I may as well just buy the plot off the man and get a place set up in a few hours. For most people it would take at least a couple days to get a new house set up but I wasn't building a house but a simple place where I and my pokemon could camp out. A massive garden more or less with a manmade cavern in the center to shelter us from the elements.-
"Good evening. I was wondering if you might be willing to sell this plot of land to me? I am of course prepared to pay handsomely for it." I said with a friendly smile as I walked up to the man. "Eh? You seem familiar but I can't place it. Hmmm, well no matter. As to the selling of this plot of land I must admit I have already put quite the work in it and am reluctant to part with it." he said with a look that said he wasn't really all that reluctant at all.
