Chapter 16 : Nothing But a Nightmare

I managed to sleep last night, but my dreams were filled with strange visions that wouldn’t leave my mind when I woke.

Distracting myself with my phone and tv did nothing, so I decided to stop fighting it. I was sitting on my couch in my pajamas, nursing a cup of coffee and trying to make sense of what the dreams meant.

I remembered it vividly. The town had been covered in a deep, dark fog that made it difficult to move or breathe. It looked like the smoke that billowed off of burning plastic, but had no scent to it. Everyone I knew was stuck in it and unable to escape.

I’d been unaffected, but unable to help anyone. I ran to my dad and found him deliriously speaking in tongues. I tried everything I could think of to snap him out of it, but he just kept talking in a low, droning voice with that fog coiling like serpents around his legs.
