Chapter 24 : Clear Warnings

Kim was actually much better last night than she was before. It seemed like her dad was doing better too. She’d called Mr. Ashworth shortly after I’d gotten home and he’d apologized profusely for his behavior. He said that he didn’t know what had gotten into him.

Kim was relieved that he seemed to be on the mend, but had opted to stay with me last night anyway. I didn’t mind. I didn’t want to make her feel unwelcome or push her to go home before she was ready.

I did hope that she would go home tonight though. I hadn’t shared my space since high school and Kim was, to put it as politely as possible, a big personality. She needed a lot of attention and she wasn’t good with long silences. It made it a little difficult for me to relax when I got home from the office.
