Chapter 27 : The First Attack

Tahir and I entered my apartment and I locked the door behind us. I’d installed a security chain since Manny’s last visit, so that I could answer the door without anyone pushing their way in. I slid it into place, then slipped off my shoes.

Tahir looked at the lock, but didn’t ask me about it. I was grateful for that.

“Would you like a drink?” I asked.

I had cheap wine and beer and I didn’t take Tahir to be a day drinker, but you never knew. He seemed very annoyed about the armlet situation, so maybe a drink would help him take the edge off.

“No, thank you,” he replied.

He was looking around the apartment. Despite Kim’s rearranging and additions to the decor, my apartment still wasn’t much to look at. I probably should be a little embarrassed about inviting a billionaire back to such a humble abode, but I wasn’t.

“Food?” I tried again.
