Chapter 25 : Verdict

*Beth’s POV*

Holy crap! Zed was in jail for killing the gang members who had kidnapped me??

My head was spinning with everything that had happened in my life recently. Even though I was exhausted, Rylan telling me that Zed was incarcerated made me feel like I’d drunk ten cups of coffee. After I threw on a pair of jeans, I rushed over to visit Zed at the police station. As soon as I entered, the other officers knew exactly what I was there for. They took me back to a room where they used to interrogate people and told me that Zed would be with me in a moment.

I sat in a blue plastic chair and stared at the big two-way mirror. Were they watching me? This room made me nervous. I wasn’t the one in trouble, but being in this room made me feel like I was. I couldn’t stop my leg from jumping as I waited. Finally, Zed walked in, looking unusually calm for someone recently arrested.

“Let me know if you need anything else, chief,” the officer who had escorted him in said.
