Aunt Adelaide was waiting for me when we reached the house. As soon as I was in the door she wrapped me in a big hug. I dropped my bag and leaned into her heavily. I was angry and embarrassed by this entire situation. I didn’t know what to do. Having her here was a huge comfort. 


“No, don’t do that,” she said sternly. “You haven’t done anything wrong.” She pulled away from the hug and looked into my face. She brushed my hair back gently and I could see the concern in her eyes.
