Chapter 38 : Good to See You

*Matt*

The scent of Jack’s blood was so strong that it turned my stomach. The fear that we’d arrived too late would have paralyzed me if not for the brick wall of a man that was raining blows down on my head. My survival instincts kept me moving.

I had seen a short man come streaking out of the trees and slam into Reid. I was worried, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of my attacker to check on him. We’d run headfirst into a trap. Jack must have done the same thing. I knew he was nearby and I needed to get to him. These bastards were just in my way.

This burly son of a bitch was keeping me from helping my friends. I kept my head covered and tried to figure out a strategy to take him down. Normally with a guy like this I’d wait for him to tire himself out, but that wasn’t an option with Reid and Jack in danger. I couldn’t spare the time.
