Chapter 21 : Seeing Red

Shir looks down at Mia, watching her expression instantly shift after she realizes that she’s looking at Shir and not his brother. The trust and love drain from her eyes, replaced by a look of unadulterated terror.

It instantly reminds him of the look she gave him when he found her in his room a while ago. As soon as he saw it, he knew he would do anything to see it again. He didn’t know what he would have done if he had caught her back then, but he’s confident that it would have ended with him in a jail cell.

This way works out much better for him, watching her look up at him with that same fear, but with her body completely unable to move. He would still have to play this smart though.

He had been keeping his distance from Mia since that night as well. While he can’t deny he’s been keeping a close eye on her, he hasn’t let Mia see him. She seems so comfortable when he isn’t around, and the longer he stays away, the safer she feels.
