Mia hasn’t left her bed in days. She can’t eat, constantly stuck in a state between consciousness and sleep that only leaves her more exhausted than before.
She can't bring herself to tell her grandparents any details except that she was fired. They would only get worried, and try to pressure her into going to the police.
Despite everything, Mia still knows that Shir is not the kind of man that she can go after easily. Having to relive everything and prove that he tried to do something when he's armed with the world's top lawyers… She has no chance of winning that fight.
So, she's given up. She slips into a state of helplessness faster than she can even blink, and there is nothing her grandparents could say to pull her out of it.
“Sweetie? You have a visitor. Do you think you feel up to it?” Granny knocks on her door and walks in before Mia has the chance to answer.
Mia’s mind goes blank as she shoots up in bed. “What? Who?” It can’t possibly be Elon, can it?
