Chapter 25 : A Much Needed Distraction

Elon feels like death. He’s locked himself in his office and has not stepped out for days. Whenever someone tries to interrupt his efforts to waste away to nothing, he can’t help but snap at them. Most of the time that results in people running away from him crying. He seems to have that effect on people.

He feels his work cell phone ringing in his pocket. Sighing, he picks it up.

“What?” Elon rubs his eyes, with no patience in his voice.

“Hello, Mr. Dahan. We are just wondering if you are on your way to the office now?” He hears the grizzled voice of his fifty-year-old CFO, William Hayes.

“Sorry, Will. I don’t think I’ll be in today. I have lots of other… things I’m working on today.” Elon can feel himself falling asleep on the phone.

“I don’t think so, Mr. Dahan. Do you remember what today is?” William’s voice quickly turns frustrated.

“Wednesday?” Elon answers with no excitement.
